The beginnings of an ancient Bordeaux castle

This ancient Bordeaux castle was first purchased on January 17th 1652, by Mr. Philoton, the general controller of the house of Queen Marguerite de Navarre.

In 1825, the domain was bought by the Rabot familiy. The vineyard of this ancient Bordeaux castle covered at that time 20 hectares and the production reached 50 barrels.

Bordeaux castle : Château Meyre and its high quality wines

In 1876, Château Meyre was classified as one of the very first growths of Avensan and Mr.Rabot won the Silver Medal in the Bordeaux wine exposition in 1895.

In April 1956, part of the domain of this Bordeaux castle sustained frost damage. A quick recover was made a few years later.

The wines of Château Meyre, ancient Bordeaux castle, retained their fragrance due to the quality of the vines and to the marble, calcareous and gravely soil.
